Barcelona was chosen as the second favourite city for luxury tourism, right behind New York. It is obvious, then, that our city wins everybody's heart on any season, but we must say the summer in Barcelona is special. All the terraces are open, there are open-air cinema sessions, festivals, concerts, plays, and much more. The good weather transforms the city and cultural offer grows. We invite you to come to the Catalan capital and discover everything Barcelona has to offer during the months of summer.

Modernism route

Barcelona and modernism are synonyms, and there's no doubt about it. A good way to start the day (before the heat hits) is to follow the Modernism route. Even though most of the emblematic buildings are in the Eixample area, not all of them are there. For example, you can find the Palau de la Música in Ciutat Vella or the Modernist Enclosure of Sant Pau (Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau). You only need to follow the red floor tiles around Barcelona, which mark the main locations of he itinerary. The good thing about this route is that you can do it at your own pace: visiting the buildings you prefer, spending the time you want in them, and stopping whenever you want to have an ice-cream or a cocktail.

Museums of Barcelona
If you prefer to avoid the sun and the heat no matter what, you can take the chance to visit the museums of Barcelona. You have the CCCB (Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona), about the city, and the MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona) in the city center, to mention a few. We also recommend to go to Montjuïc, where you will find the cultural center CaixaForum Barcelona, the Mies van der Rohe German Pavilion and, if you keep going up, you will find the MNAC (National Museum of Art of Catalunya) and the Joan Miró Foundation.

However, if what you want to do is beat the heat, you can always stay and enjoy our pool, located at the top of the hotel: an oasis of peace and tranquility in the big city. You also have the Pool Bar, where you can order delicious food and drinks. And don't forget about our terrace, a big window towards the sea, where you will be able to watch the boats come and go from the shore.

Dinners with stars

Is there anything more romantic than a dinner under the stars? The Fabra Observatory in Barcelona knows it and that's why they offer Dinners with Stars every summer. A dinner at one of the best viewpoints of Barcelona with a touch of scientific outreach. The night starts with the dinner on the terrace, where they serve a menu inspired by the astronomy topic. When the meal is finished, they offer a conference and a guided visit inside the Observatory, where you will be able to see the stars through the 1904 telescope from the big dome.

Great Festivals
We all know the famous festivals of Barcelona, such as the Primavera Sound and the Sonar Festival, but there are some other gems that, while not so popular, are as valuable as these ones. One of them is the Barcelona Grec Festival. It is an unavoidable appointment for any theater, dance and music fan, and it has proved very popular amongst all the European festivals. Another gem is the Jardins de Pedralbes Festival, which hosts a series of concerts during June and July with artists as important as Rufus Wainwright, Tony Bennet, Birdy and Yann Tiersen, along with many others.

As you can see, there are many options to enjoy a 5-star summer in Barcelona and the best way to start is by booking a room at Hotel Miramar Barcelona.
